NON-TOXIC 15-FREE, HEMA FREE, TPO FREE UV gels @ BELINKA BEAUTY

Most of our gel products are 15-FREE . Our main goal is to offer the market gel products that will be of high quality and at the same time with the safest materials. It is very difficult to create organic or natural gel products that will also retain perfect properties. However, with our gel products we have managed this difficult task.

PLUS most of our gel products are also HEMA ( 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate ) FREE (except Iconic Top Matt) and most gel products and DiHEMA ( trimethylhexyldicarbamate ) FREE (except Iconic Fixing Gel).

Also, almost all of our gel products are TPO FREE (except Iconic PolyAkryl Gel).

What does 15-FREE mean?

1. Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) - This ingredient is commonly used in nail polishes and cosmetics. It is a plasticizer that is used to prevent nail polish from chipping and cracking. Plasticizers have been shown to be carcinogenic. The substance has also been linked to liver, kidney, and reproductive system problems.

2. Formaldehyde - This ingredient is used as a preservative in UV gel. The chemical gives UV gels a strong odor and can cause allergic reactions, breathing problems, and nausea. Formaldehyde is a proven carcinogen.

3. Toluene - A chemical used to suspend paint and create a smooth surface. Toluene has not been classified as a carcinogen, but has been shown to be harmful to the central nervous system. It causes fatigue, dizziness, and nausea!

4. Formaldehyde Resin - This chemical gives nail products shine and hardness. It also helps UV gel adhere better to the nail. Formaldehyde resin is a well-known skin allergen and has been shown to cause dermatitis.

5. Camphor - This ingredient is used to add more shine and flexibility to UV gels. Exposure to high concentrations of camphor can cause skin irritation, headaches, dizziness, or nausea.

6. Acetone - is toxic in nature. Small amounts of acetone can cause skin or eye irritation, headaches, dizziness, or nausea. Exposure to high concentrations can cause loss of consciousness and can even be fatal.

7. Bisphenol A - The chemical can cause several allergic skin reactions or irritate the eyes or respiratory tract. It can even affect the reproductive system.

8. Ethyltosylamide - A plasticizer that helps increase the adhesion and durability of UV gels. May cause skin/eye irritation or reproductive dysfunction. Ethyltosylamide is banned in Europe in personal care products (including UV gels) due to its antibiotic properties and resistance.

9. Glycol ether - Exposure to glycol ether can cause respiratory irritation, headaches, nausea, temporary corneal clouding, or skin irritation. It can even be harmful to unborn babies during pregnancy.

10. Nonylphenol ethoxylate - The chemical can cause serious eye injuries and skin irritation. Exposure to nonylphenol ethoxylate can cause hormonal problems.

11. Parabens - Used to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and mold in cosmetic products, parabens have been linked to an increased risk of hormonal problems and allergic reactions.

12. Styrene - It is toxic in nature. Styrene can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, and respiratory irritation. Styrene has been associated with skin irritation.

13. Sulfates - Can oxidize to sulfuric acid, a corrosive substance. Exposure to high concentrations of sulfates can cause lung problems or dermatitis.

14. Triphenyl Phosphate (TPHP) - A plasticizer used to improve the flexibility and durability of UV gels. Exposure to TPHP has been linked to endocrine disruption and reproductive toxicity.

15. Xylene - A solvent used to thin UV gels – or to prevent the product from curling. Xylene is commonly responsible for the strong odor of nail products. Xylene is a well-known allergen that can cause eye and skin irritation, headaches, dizziness and nausea.

What exactly is HEMA in gel products?

HEMA is the most common allergen in nail products and cosmetics. It is best to avoid products that contain HEMA. Manufacturers have no legitimate reason to use this ingredient other than to cut costs.

HEMA is a monomer, a reactive component, most often used to attach gel to the nail. It gives gel polish a hard, shiny finish. HEMA is found in various types of nail products, such as adhesives, acrylics, gel polishes, and gels. It is also known as 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate or hydroxyethyl methacrylate, a monomer used in the polymerization of UV gels. HEMA molecules are very small and can be absorbed into the skin and nail plate.

The safety of our customers is a priority for us, which is why almost all of our products in our catalog are HEMA-free.

What is the problem with HEMA in gel nail products?

The problem is that HEMA causes a escalating reaction. These very small, reactive and volatile molecules can penetrate the skin and cause serious skin reactions such as allergies and inflammation. Once an allergic reaction occurs, the body can no longer tolerate any products containing HEMA.

HEMA-free gels are the future

Safer products with less risk for both consumers and nail technicians. HEMA-free gels are the future due to the lower risk of allergic skin reactions such as eczema.

TPO FREE gels

Belinka Beauty leads the way as an innovator with TPO-free formulas. Almost all UV gels in our catalog (currently except Iconic Polyacryl Gel) are TPO-free. TPO-free UV gel products do not contain harmful chemicals associated with skin irritation and hormonal imbalance, making them safer for nail designers and customers alike.

As of 5 January 2024, the European Commission (EU) adopted Regulation (EU) 2024/197 amending the classification and labelling of certain substances. As a result, the substance diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide (TPO) is reclassified as CMR (toxic for reproduction) category 1B. This means that TPO can no longer be used in cosmetic products under EU Regulation 1223/2009. Cosmetic products containing TPO can no longer be sold or offered on the EU market from September 2025.

BELINKA BEAUTY - Safe products, less risk for customers and nail designers as well as reduced risk of allergic skin reactions.
